Our people share a common vision—they are committed to excellence in the practice of architecture. To achieve this goal, we provide challenging opportunities as well as a creative, fulfilling and supportive work environment. Our talented staff enjoys a relaxed atmosphere in an open studio setting overlooking the Potomac River in historic Georgetown.

Bowie Gridley Architects is a terrific place for those with initiative and creativity who work well in teams. The architectural studio is organized into project teams with the goal of assigning staff members to long-term projects. A Project Manager heads each team and provides leadership, focus and extensive technical expertise. Depending on the project size and schedule, project teams vary from three to eight individuals, occasionally more. Smaller projects often give young architects an opportunity to work directly with clients in concert with one of our Principals.

Staff members at Bowie Gridley Architects are graduates of colleges and universities across the nation and around the world, including Auburn University, Boston University, Carnegie Mellon University, Catholic University, Chicago State University, Cornell University, Dartmouth College, Eastern Michigan University, Florida A&M University, Georgetown University, Georgia Institute of Technology, Harvard University, Haverford College, Indiana University, Jadavpur University, Miami University, Odessa Civil Engineering Institute, Philadelphia University, Polytechnic University of Pennsylvania, Pratt Institute of Design, Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, Rhode Island School of Design, Rice University, Syracuse University, University at Buffalo, University of California, University of Illinois, University of Kansas, University of Maryland, University of Miami, University of Michigan, University of North Carolina at Charlotte, University of Pennsylvania, University of South Florida, University of Texas, University of Virginia, Virginia Polytechnic and State University, Washington University of St. Louis and Yale University.

Bowie Gridley Architects encourages the professional development of individuals by providing in-house continuing education seminars, mentoring and goal-oriented reviews. Many of our in-house seminars qualify for AIA Continuing Education Units (CEUs) for AIA members. Mentorship ensures that intern architects are exposed to all design phases in their work and assists in achieving IDP requirements. We also have a library of current preparation materials for the Architectural Registration Exam for use by our staff. The firm encourages architectural registration as well as in professional organizations such as the American Institute of Architects. The study of issues of sustainability is also important. Informal study groups form from time to time to study for the LEED (Leadership in Energy & Environmental Design) Accreditation Exam. If you are interested in becoming part of BGA, we are in a continuous search for talented people who appreciate a challenging career and the rewards it can bring.
