Marketing Manager

Bowie Gridley Architects is looking for a Marketing Manager to join our team as we look to grow our award-winning architectural practice located in the Georgetown neighborhood of Washington, DC.  BGA is dedicated to institutions that give back- specializing in work for facilities like schools, performing arts venues, libraries, and museums that better our community and culture.  This new team member will be an important part of our growth, working closely with senior staff to evolve the firm’s marketing efforts in support of our larger mission.

The Marketing Manager will help lead and execute strategic marketing and communications activities for our firm.  We are looking for someone with a background that includes both proposal management and preparation as well as experience with a broad range of marketing activities, including strategic sales support, digital and social media planning and management, collateral design and development, and marketing research.  Strong writing and editing skills are a must; graphics capabilities are a plus.

An ideal candidate will enjoy working closely with a small team and collaborating with multiple senior stakeholders as well as taking ownership of individual initiatives and projects.  In addition, the candidate must be able to manage his/her own workload and work independently, juggle shifting priorities, and manage multiple projects and deadlines.  The Marketing Manager will work for the firm’s managing principals and will oversee other members of the marketing team.

Required + Preferred Experience

  • B.S. or B.A. required, degree in English or Writing preferred
  • 7-10 years of experience in general marketing and/or communications
  • Experience in architecture, engineering, or construction industry is ideal; experience with the preparation of proposals for AEC, technology, consulting, or other professional services industries is required
  • Proficiency in MS Word, PowerPoint and Acrobat required; knowledge of InDesign and the rest of the Creative Suite a plus

Responsibilities

  • Manage and develop proposals and presentations for private and public clients
  • Partner with senior staff to support strategic sales activities like the development of leads, pursuit of target clients, and approach to key opportunities
  • Develop and maintain relationships with partners, sub consultants and vendors
  • Oversee brand and its consistent application across internal and external platforms
  • Develop and execute annual strategic communications plan
  • Write and design case studies, sales decks, collateral and other supporting materials for sales, capture and campaign efforts
  • Manage, plan and execute conferences and events
  • Develop and contribute to social and digital media strategy and content
  • Conceptualize and lead PR efforts, including support of industry partnerships, thought-leadership, sponsorships and advertising
