During his more than 30 years of professional practice, Rich Salopek has focused on work that emphasizes community and innovation. He has collaborated with educational, civic and institutional organizations to create architecture that celebrates each institution’s unique culture and aspirations. His areas of special focus include campus master planning, K-12 education, public libraries, and sports and recreation facilities. Rich actively participates in the profession’s discussions about how to best serve educational institutions. He drew upon his recent work with K-12 schools to conduct a workshop at the Conference of the Virginia Chapter of the Association for Learning Environments (VA4LE) titled “Strategies for Creating STEAM-Focused Learning Environments.” Active in community affairs, he has served as a Director on the McLean Planning Committee since 2003, serving two terms as President.
