Administrative professionals at Howard Hughes Medical Institute in Chevy Chase, MD moved into a new type of work environment, when they occupied expanded offices, meeting rooms, and gathering areas designed by Bowie Gridley Architects and occupied in the early spring of 2010.  BGA’s design team, under the leadership of Project Principal, Calvert S. Bowie, AIA and Project Manager, Jonathan S. Rodvien, AIA, reinterpreted the special character of the existing facility by drawing upon and expanding the strengths of the original building.   BGA’s team designed the new work environment to encourage interaction and collaboration among staff and to open views to the outdoors from several vantage points, building on the concept of a “workplace in a garden.”
