BGA Participates in Annual Gingerbread House Charity Competition

Thursday, December 12th, 2013

Bowie Gridley Architects has been recognized for one of its “sweetest” contributions to architecture, yet. On December 4, the firm’s participation in Gingertown, a charity event to raise money for several local and national organizations, was awarded Best Overall Design Quality for its “McDots” burger joint construction.

Gingertown, founded in 2006, brings together architectural and engineering firms from across DC to design a miniature town made entirely of gingerbread and other sweets. More than 50 teams participated in the event. Twelve BGA staff members participated in the design and assembly of McDots, one of several “projects” designed to correspond with the “World Games” theme. Among the other buildings included in 2013 Gingertown were: the Peeps Arena, Atlas Theatres, and Mounds Ski Run & Half Pipe.
